Feature Article: Sailing to Greece from Santorini to Mykonos

By August 2, 2013 August 26th, 2013 Adventure Travel Company, Trips

I have just returned from a fantastic sailing trip in Greece with Intrepid. We sailed from Santorini to Mykonos on a 50 ft sail boat with 7 passengers on board.

The islands are stunning: dry and rocky with quiet, idyllic olive groves; grazing goats; white, hilly villages surrounded by deep blue sea. The food was exceptional and being on a boat gave me such a strong feeling of freedom. Every day we swam off the boat, the weather was warm and the sea was lovely.

Greece to Santorini

Every day we explored a different island:

• Santorini’s view of the old volcano rim is gorgeous! Imagine a 20 Km, massive multi-colored cliff with villages literally gripping on to the cliff face.

• Ios island was amazingly quiet in the off season. It featured beautiful beaches and hilly landscapes and a delicious warm wind scented with pine, thyme and rosemary.

• Amorgos and Naxos had amazing food like yummy feta cheese, olives, eggplants, grilled lamb, fresh fish, yogurt and honey, tzasiki and MUCH more.

• Mykonos and Oia in Santorini have probably the most beautiful old towns, even though they are two of the most visited islands.
